Journey to Kendall

We created this blog so that Chandler and of course all of our friends and family can follow our journey to GO GET KENDALL! This truly has been a journey in patience, and perseverance, and we have found the MAJOR difference between giving birth to a child and adopting is... No EPIDERAL for the pain, yet, we know the day we hold Kendall in our arms it will seem like nothing, kind of like pregnancy amnesia we will have adoption amnesia. So follow along, we will post as much as possible, and please leave us your thoughts and comments!

Gotcha Day

Well the day finally arrived, here is a little video of the moment.

What words can describe our feelings, joy, love, and oh my gosh can this girl CRY! Chandler you had better get ear plugs! We get to Nanchang about 1:00pm, we meet Tracy and Mathew from New Jersey on the way over, we all came from Hong Kong, we get off in Nanchang and a man is holding our names up, our guide not there, luckily another big adoption group is there and the guide for them says "Oh, I know Cyndi your guide and you get on the bus with this man he will take you to the Hotel..." Ok why the heck not we are in communist China where there are military men everywhere in the airport, way different then in Hong Kong, so we get off this bus and go to the hotel where Cyndi our lovely guide tells us we have less then one hour to get our stuff dropped off, paper work, and go to the civil affairs office to get Kendall.

So we are scrambling around the room trying to baby proof things expecting a almost one year old and remembering fondly Chandler and how he grabbed, touched, and put everything in his mouth, and yet, all for nothing, she does not want you to put her down!

We get on the bus to go to the Civil Affairs office, we get up there, Cyndi tells us will be about 1/2 hour for the babies to get there, we are the first group to walk in and there are pink bundles of little babies! We am freaking, is this Kendall, then we here yes these are the Nanfang babies!!! We are looking at all the pink stuffed babies and we were not sure which one was Kendall, and trust me everyone was in the same boat, then Dez took another look and the one on the end is her!Yep they call us and we are the second ones to get our little girl! She has filled out in the face, and she has he reddist little chapped cheeks! The rest is literally a blur, one things is for sure she did not cry at all until we got her to the hotel where we literally stripped 5 layers off! I will go into the rest of the details later, lets just say that China is dusty, and well dirt sticks in amazing places. From the moment we took those clothers off she showed her temper! She was MAD!

The orphanage director told us she was a happy baby, yet she has a temper, when she is mad she throws temper tantrums, and yes they are right!!!! She is sad, you see it in her eyes, but she is the most cuddly little thing, this one is her mommys girl with that temper! I have to go for now, we are exhausted and Kendall is finally a sleep... We are off to take the oath to take care of her and educate her, tomorrow, we will maybe get info about her foster parents, so we will post more later...

Tears of Joy are flowing down my cheeks...and I am choked for words (I know, a rare thing for Dad, ritht?).

Amazing how love can be so instant!

It's all so real now, I guess just knowing that you and Jim now have her in your arms she REALLY IS...a part of our family.

Now, even more waiting for the rest of us here, what a moment to look forward to, when you step off that plane and we all get to feel her touch.

Love to all and please give Kendall a special hug and kiss from Pop Pop.

Love always,

Dad~~

Jim, Desirae and Kendall,
Chandler was so cute when he played the video. He made Grumps and Grandma come into the room so he could be the one to play it for them. He said she is sooo cute, then just wanted to talk to you both on the pnone, and see her, but was mad that it was so dark, then he was pretty much done and off to play with his pirate ships. Hang in there you two, she is a very lucky baby to have you for parents, as unlike most you can understand what she is going through and will be able to help her with her transistion into the Hutchinson family. I bet you get her smiling before you know it! Of course as her Gram, I am glad to hear she has some spunk, her Mommy did as a little girl, she will need it to deal with Spanky! Get some sleep and let us know what you find out today about her care with her foster parents. We are hoping that you get some details, as it will help you to fill in the blanks. It sounds like you are most likely correct in your assessment of her stage of development. Thank goodness for your education :) and all that reading you both did! We will talk to you at 3:00 PM, and Spanky says turn on the light so he can see his sister next time. We love you all and are so happy to see a healthy filled out baby. Welcome to the fold Kendall Bree, we all love you sooooo much! Oh by the way, Chandler is dictating what he wants to say; "Your big brother Chandler thinks you are cute, and he loves you this much. (holding arms open wide)." Love to you all and stay safe, Chandler, Calle, Grumps, Gram and Grandma.

She is absolutely beautiful! She really has filled out since the photo you two got. She may be a little sad, but I see a lot of strength in her face. She will definately take on Desirae's personality! ;) It's so wonderful that the wait is over and you are now able to hold Kendall in your arms! Love you all!

Congradulations to the both of you. Your Blog site is a really great idea. Sorry I was so late finding out about it, have been without a computer for awhile. Loved the photos, she's a cute little girl. I am sure that big brother will take extra special care with her.
