Yes, we LOVED seeing "Real China", but we are still American born and bred and we so needed to be here! Everyone in our group is chipper and happy and we just feel CLEAN! The water in Nanchang is a tinged brown, here it is "US NASA Certified Filtered" water at the Victory, we have a HUGE room with a sitting area, big king down comfy bed, even Kendall's bed has memory foam! And all for a mere $65 a night which includes a buffet breakfast. We are in much needed heaven, traveling anytime is tiring, but try 6 hours with a airplane and bus full of babies, and our little Kendall was amazing!
Shamian Island, where the US Consulate is and our hotel is located, has a total area of 1/2 sq. mile total. Nestled on the west, facing the famous Swan Lake, surrounded by the Pearl River, Shamian is one of the Guangzhou's most prized possession. It has a rich history, it once had been a British and French Settlement which is clearly visible in the more than 150 European-style buildings and 158 old trees that flank its streets, we feel like we have been transported to a European city with it's cobblestone lanes, it is truly beautiful!
Kendall went to her 1st Birthday party, Lucia her foster sister turned 1 on Friday, so Kendall got her a cupcake for her 1st B-Day and then tonight the group went to the best Thai restaurant for her official B-Day. It was really special for us to be there with Lucia,
whom Kendall spent the first year of her life with. Their finding ad was even in the paper together since they were found 5 days a part. Needless to say these two will remain friends FOREVER we hope! This picture is of the two empressess togther.
Kendall was busy taking notes of how well Lucia ate her cupcake!
Here are the clothes police in action this is an example of what we tell you happens in town!
Here are several people doing their morning Tai Chi.
Kendall's first Dr's appt. for the required U.S. Consulate appt. where she weighed in at 20 lbs and 32 inches long! We will of course check this at home, as one baby was held up and the Dr. said yep 17 lbs. She was so good all these screaming babies and she was sleeping until her hearing was checked, this kid is a true trooper!

Tomorrow we go to visit a family temple and the have the monks do the traditional blessing of the babies.

It looks very beautiful there. I love the picture of Kendall on that huge bed. I'm sure it already looked big, but with Kendall on it, it looks like it is the size of a small room. I'm glad to hear Kendall is doing so well through all the goings on. When I saw the first pictures of her with you two, I thought she looked very strong and determined. She will definately be able to hold her own through anything life sends her way.
That clothes police video is too funny. I don't think those ladies were quite she if Kendall was wearing enough layers. Even after they smiled and seemed to say 'yes', they still looked a bit unsure. ..lol..
Again, I'm glad everything is going so great. I can't wait to see you all at home. I love following along, but nothing would beat being able to be with you guys in person right now. Love you all.

Hello again from sunny SUN CITY, USA
More great videos and pictures of our little DIAMOND... She is so great! It look's as if some of your concerns about leaving her foster parents and adjusting to you guy's can be put behind! That little girl is really into her Dad and Mom! I don't think that the soon to come home coming will be near as much of a problem for her as meeting all those new people, undergoing the scrutiny of the CLOTHES POLICE and prodding by the doctor!
She really is a TROOPER, as you say!
I read the following the other day and thought I would pass it on to you...the statement of an adopted child when asked, by another, what "adoption" means...
A teacher was having a lesson on vocabulary and asked the children to pick a word beginning with a letter in the alphabet. One little guy had recently found out that his mother and father were going to adopt him a little sister...so he asked what the word Adoption meant...A little girl jumped up immediately and stated "I know!!! I am adopted and it just means that love was born in your mommy's heart and not in her stomach".
When I read this, naturally I thought of you guys...if we all only had the wisdom of children!
We anxiously are counting the hours now till you touch down back her in the "new world'...isn't it amazing, at that very moment Kendall will become a US CITIZEN...and on her very first birthday!!
How truly blessed we all are and especially darling Kendall..
Love to the three of you...
DAD~
